Wouldn't we

Wouldn't we as a memorial to Actaeon stay away from every and each hart, wouldn't we, were it not that at each hart we know this one isn't Actaeon, here we don't go astray.

Were you to ask

Were you to ask — and you would be as able to stop and gape at me, astounded, as to ask me a thing — were you to ask of me, I couldn't deny you an answer. A hart could deny you, can only deny you; Actaeon cannot. Here, I might then reply, is your Actaeon, a hart, or, look upon this hart, my hounds, he is your Actaeon.

Jeff Harrison has publications from Writers Forum, Persistencia Press, and Furniture Press. He has e-books from BlazeVOX and Argotist Ebooks.
